Preliminary Rounds - Match #6: Shizuo Heiwajima vs Lucy

Round 1 – Strength

This round will be based on strength in terms of power and which character possesses the overall superior strength to the other.

Shizuo Heiwajima, an ordinary man just like any other but with a terrible curse, anger. Shizuo possesses a paranormal ability relating to his anger problems and settles his feuds the only way he knows how, with pure aggressive violence. He is known to be the strongest man in Ikebukoro based on his violent ways in fighting and the fact that he has superhuman abilities, being able to throw street signs at people and even survive a hit and run from a gang of thugs without feeling any pain. He claims to hate violence despite being the most violent man in the city, this is a curse because Shizuo cannot control his anger and his strength simply bursts out at any random moment.

Lucy, an ordinary girl on the outside but inside she is a Diclonius, a member of a deadly race who possesses an ability known as Vectors, invisible arms that form from the back of a Diclonius and is commonly used to decapitate the limbs of a person and even move objects. Lucy suffers from a split personality disorder, with her alter ego Nyu being a harmless and humble kind girl who can only utter the words “Nyu” and Lucy herself who is an emotionally scarred monster who kills those she hates using her Vectors.

In terms of power and superior strength Shizuo holds an advantage, and here’s why: Lucy uses her Vectors to slice limbs and block bullets, she can also carry dead bodies to use as shields, and however despite all of that she has a weakness being Kouta, an average guy whom Lucy fell in love with when they were kids. In the midst of battle she would never hurt Kouta even in full killer instinct; this gives an advantage to Shizuo as he has no known weakness and doesn’t give a damn about who he hurts. The Vectors that Lucy has can only reach 2 meters limiting her range of attack whereas Shizuo is able to throw large objects that can potentially kill his enemies. And with that being said I award this round to Shizuo.

Round 2 – Destruction and Devastation

This round shall be measuring each character’s range of destruction and devastation meaning the people around them and the environment.  Lucy as we all know leaves a destructive path when she is enraged, especially in the opening of Elfen Lied when she slaughtered all of the security in her way; she manages to handle herself very well in combat and mostly leaves a destructive pile of corpse in the end. Shizuo however leaves a different type of destruction and instead leaves many streets, buildings and sometimes the whole city in ruins, once when he fought against his rival Izaya almost half the city was destroyed as cars and street signs were piled everywhere.

So in a measurement of total destruction I think Shizuo wins the round, because of the scale of destruction that he inflicts rather than the bodies of his vicims like Lucy.
